Hitch is a daily word-chain puzzle for iPhone and iPad. You’re given the top and bottom words, and each word joins the next to make a compound word or familiar phrase. Every wrong guess, or tap of Reveal, shows one more letter. Fewest extra letters wins.

Common questions

• Do I need an account? No. Hitch has no accounts and works offline.
• When does a new chain come out? Every day at midnight, your local time.
• Can I play chains I missed? Yes. Tap Archive on the home screen.
• How do I work from the other end? Tap the other highlighted row. With a hardware keyboard, press Tab or an arrow key.
• The keyboard disappeared. Tap the chain to bring it back.
• I think a link is wrong. Send the chain number and the two words. If it’s wrong, it gets fixed in an update.
